Michael Rene Taylor (born January 21, 1986 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American basketball player . He plays in the position of point guard .
college
Taylor played one season for Iowa State University (ISU). He was the top scorer of his team with 16.0 points per game. He was kicked off the team in July 2007 after coming into conflict with the law on multiple occasions.
Development League
During the 2007-08 season, he played for the Idaho Stampede in the D-League . He averaged 14.5 points per game in 39 games.
NBA
Taylor was picked 55th in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers . He is the first NBA player to be drafted by the D-League. Portland received its 55th pick from the Phoenix Suns in a trade through the Indiana Pacers . He was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for a future second-round pick on draft night and signed with the Clippers on July 15.
