Keldon Johnson (born October 11,  1999 in Chesterfield , Virginia ) is an American basketball player .

career

Johnson played as a teenager for the team at Oak Hill Academy, Virginia . In November 2017, he announced his decision to play at the college level for the University of Kentucky . He gave the University of Texas , UCLA and the University of Kansas , which had also tried to get Johnson, a rejection. At Kentucky, he played for coach John Calipari , who is known for having  prepared numerous talents for the leap into the NBA . Johnson was in the starting line-up in 36 of his 37 appearances for Kentucky in the 2018/19 game year and was the team's third-best scorer with 13.5 points per game. He also came to an average of 5.9 rebounds per game. In April 2019, Johnson announced his move into the professional business as well as his registration for the NBA draft process . The San Antonio Spurs picked him 29th.
