Way of the Cross at Station XII

The Way of the Cross in Burrweiler includes 14 gabled Wilhelminian style shrines made of sandstone. The reliefs in the niches represent the classic 14 Stations of the Cross of Christ. It was created at the end of the 19th century.

path

The Way of the Cross begins at the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. The first two stations are opposite its west facade. The path follows the wine road to the right, which meets the main road after about 100 m and continues to the left. After 50 m, St.-Anna-Straße branches off to the right, where stations III and IV are located. After another 200 m the path leads right into the vineyards. The other stations of the cross follow gradually. The Weinbergsweg turns left after about 200 m, but the Way of the Cross leads straight up through a small forest, initially with a moderate incline again through vineyards, later very steeply through a chestnut forest until it finally reaches the St. Anna Chapel . Station XIV is located a little below the chapel, above the chapel there is a large crucifixion group.
