Dejounte Deshaun Murray (born September 19, 1996 in Seattle , Washington ) is an American basketball player who currently plays for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA .

Career

Murray played for the Huskies at the University of Washington for a year . There he scored 16.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.8 steals on average. After his freshman year , he decided to enroll in the NBA Draft and was selected 29th in the 2016 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs . At the Spurs, he played an important role in the first year, for he completed several assignments for the Spurs farm team , the Austin Spurs . Murray completed 38 season games for the Spurs, where he showed his potential and celebrated 8 starter missions. He also completed 11 playoffs for the Spurs. After Tony Parker injured himself in a playoff game, Murray replaced him.

In his second NBA year, Murray ousted longtime Spurs point guard Tony Parker as a starter after showing consistently good performance over several weeks and was elected to the 2018 NBA All-Defensive Second Team .

Murray suffered a cruciate ligament tear in his right knee during a preparation game for the 2018/19 season . He then dropped out the entire season.
