Tyler Paul Zeller (born January 17, 1990 in Visalia , California ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the San Antonio Spurs .
College career
He spent four years at UNC , where he established himself as a starter in his sophomore year. In his senior year he was voted Player of the Year in his Conference. Because of these and other awards, his jersey can be hung under the roof of the Dean Smith Center at the end of his college days. During his college days, he averaged 12.8 points, 6.7 rebounds , 0.6 assists , 0.7 steals and 1.1 blocks . After the 2011/12 season, he signed up for the 2012 NBA draft .
NBA
In the draft he was selected in 17th place by the Dallas Mavericks and transferred to Cleveland that same evening. Zeller initially started from the bank. After the injury of the starting center Anderson Varejao , Zeller moved up into the starting lineup. He started in 55 of 77 games, scoring 7.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. After the season he was called up to the All NBA Rookie Second Team. In his second year, due to the return of Varejao, Zeller received less playing time and only started in 9 of 70 games. At the end of the season he was transferred to the Boston Celtics . In July 2017, the club announced that they would part ways with Zeller at the end of the 2016/2017 season.

Zeller has two brothers who are also basketball players. His older brother Luke Zeller played for the Phoenix Suns in 2013 . His younger brother Cody Zeller was selected 4th in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Bobcats .
