NBA draft 2018
The 2018 NBA Draft took place on June 21, 2018 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn , New York . In two draft rounds, the 30 NBA teams were able to secure the rights to 60 young players from the NCAA college league and abroad.
In the draft lottery on May 15, 2018, the final selection order was determined. The 14 teams that did not qualify for the playoffs of the 2017/18 season took part in this weighted lottery . The Phoenix Suns won the lottery, with a 25.0% chance of the first pick , ahead of the Sacramento Kings and Atlanta Hawks . The favorites for the first pick were the Slovenian guard Luka Dončić and the Bahamian center DeAndre Ayton from the University of Arizona. Ayton was eventually drafted first by the Phoenix Suns.
All players who signed up for the draft had to be born before December 31, 1999, regardless of their school leaving certificate or nationality. If they were not an "international player," it must have been at least a year between their registration date and their final high school year.
