Kevin Huerter (born August 27, 1998 in Albany , New York ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA .

career

Huerter comes from a basketball family: his older brother Thomas and father Tom played at Siena College.

He played at Shenendehowa Central High School and was named Best High School Player in New York State in 2016. After moving to the University of Maryland , Huerter was promptly a top performer in his debut game year 2016/17 with a playing time of 29 minutes per game and averaged 9.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per match. In the 2017/18 season, as a sophomore, he increased his mean values ​​to 14.8 points and five rebounds. In his two years with Maryland, Huerter was the college team's top three-point thrower.

In spring 2018 he announced the end of his university days and his move to professional business. The Atlanta Hawks secured the rights to Huerter in the first selection round in June 2018 in the NBA's draft process in 19th place.

Huerter made his debut in the NBA on October 17, 2018 in a 126:10 loss to the New York Knicks . On January 11, 2019, he scored a career high of 29 points in the 123:121 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers . At the end of the 2018/19 season, Huerter was elected to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team , having previously posted an average of 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 75 appearances during the main round for Atlanta.

In 2016 Huerter won gold with the US U18 national team at the American Championship.
