Damian William Jones (born June 30, 1995 in Baton Rouge , Louisiana ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA .

college

After graduating from Scotlandville Magnet High School, Jones attended Vanderbilt University for three years . Seen over 40 minutes of play, Jones could continuously improve. In his junior year he scored an average of 21.2 points and 10.5 rebounds for his team in 40 minutes of play .

NBA career

In the 2016 NBA Draft , Jones was selected 30th by the Golden State Warriors in the first round. He signed a four-year contract for 6.3 million with them US dollars . In his first two years as a professional, Jones hardly got any playing time with the Warriors. In the NBA 2016/17 season he played ten games in a total of 85 minutes and in the NBA 2017/18 season he played in 15 games for a total of 89 minutes. He also came in both years in the play-offs to four short appearances for the Warriors and was able to win the title with the team in his first two years in the NBA.

In his first two years as a professional, he gained gaming experience mainly with the Santa Cruz Warriors , the Warriors ' NBA G-League team. Here he knew how to convince in 2017/18 with 15 points and 8 rebounds per game. In his third year with the Warriors, the role of Jones grew so that he was used for just under 17 minutes per game and could achieve 5.4 points on average for Golden State. Here he also played mainly as a starter, because DeMarcus Cousins was not yet ready for use due to an injury. However, Jones severely injured his chest muscle after just 24 games and therefore missed the remaining games of the regular season 2018/19 .
