Rodions Kurucs (born February 5, 1998 in Cēsis ) is a Latvian basketball player who is under contract with the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA .

career

Kurucs moved from the Latvian capital club VEF Riga to FC Barcelona in 2015 . There he initially played mainly in the youth and in the second men's team. In the 2016/17 season he made his debut in the Euroleague and in 2017/18 in the ACB league . In both game years, 2016/17 and 2017/18, the winger had to sit out temporarily due to knee injuries.

In the draft process in June 2018, the Brooklyn Nets secured the rights to Kurucs in the second selection round in 40th place.

National team

With the Latvian national team, he finished second at the U16 European Championship in 2014 and was the top scorer in his team with 13.4 points per game. In 2017 he was appointed to the senior national team.

Personal

His younger brother Artūrs also became a professional basketball player.
