Jarrett Allen (born April 21, 1998 in San Diego , California ) is an American basketball player . The center has played with the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA since the 2017/18 season .

college

Born in San Diego , California , Allen attended St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin , Texas . As one of the greatest talents in the front court , he then decided to play basketball for the University of Texas at Austin . As a freshman , he averaged 13.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. After a season in college, he signed up for the 2017 NBA draft .

NBA

On draft day, Allen was selected in 22nd position by the Brooklyn Nets . On July 20, 2017, he signed a rookie contract with the Eastern Conference franchise . He made his debut on October 20 and, at 19 years and 182 days, became the second youngest player behind Derrick Favors to ever step on the court wearing the Nets shirt. He finished the game with nine points, two rebounds and a block. In the 116:10 win against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 25, 2018, Allen started for the first time in the NBA and marked a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds . On February 2, he scored against the Los Angeles Lakers with a new career high of 20 points in this category. Five days later, he attacked 14 rebounds against the Detroit Pistons and on April 5, he blocked 5 throws against the Milwaukee Bucks . In his first 2017/18 season , he averaged eight points, five rebounds and one block per game.

In the following season 2018/19 he was already an integral part of the starting five of the Nets. On November 17, 2018, he scored a new career high in this category with 24 points in the game against the Los Angeles Clippers . In addition, 11 rebounds were used in the 119: 127 defeat. On January 16, 2019, he made a double-double consisting of 20 points and 24 rebounds in the game against the Houston Rockets . He finished his second season with an average of 10.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.

Private

Jarrett's father, Leonard, was a professional basketball player who played for four years at San Diego State College basketball and was selected in the third round in the 1985 NBA draft in third position. However, it was not enough for a career in the NBA and he then played in Spain. His older brother Leonard Jr. currently plays for Baylor University .
