Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot (born May 9, 1995 in Cannes ) is a French basketball player .

career

Luwawu-Cabarrot made his debut in the French second division team Olympique d'Antibes in the 2012/13 season , but it also remained in short appearances after Antibes had made promotion to the first division and competed in the ProA in the 2013/14 season. He was relegated with the team immediately and played a much more important role in the 2014/15 second division: Luwawu-Cabarrot was on the field for an average of around 19 minutes in 34 games and scored 6.9 points per encounter.

In the 2015/16 game year, the French moved abroad, he switched to KK Mega Basket , for which he was a top performer in both the Serbian league and the Adriatic basketball league (14.6 points on average). In the North American NBA draft process in June 2016, the Philadelphia 76ers secured the rights to the French in 24th place in the first selection round. In early July 2016, he was officially signed by Philadelphia. Until 2018 he played a total of 121 games for the team and averaged 6.1 points per game.

In the summer of 2018, Luwawu-Cabarrot was given to the Oklahoma City Thunder as part of a barter from Philadelphia . For Oklahoma City he played 21 games, but remained a supplementary player with an average playing time of 5.8 minutes per encounter. In February 2019, he moved to the Chicago Bulls . In preparation for the 2019/20 season, he trained with the Cleveland Cavaliers , but was removed from the squad in mid-October 2019. At the end of the same month, he signed a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets that allowed him to play in the NBA as well as in the NBA G-League .

National team

In the run-up to the 2017 European Championship , he was in the extended squad of the French national team , but missed the tournament due to a knee injury.
