Issuf Sanon (also Yusuf Sanon; Ukrainian Іссуф Санон ; born October 30, 1999 in Donetsk ) is a Ukrainian basketball player .

career

Sanon was born in Donetsk to a Ukrainian mother and a Burkinabe father . He started playing basketball at the age of seven. In the 2016/17 season he received his first appearances in the men's team of the first division club BK Dnipro . After he was previously largely unknown at international level, Sanon drew attention to himself with his performances at the U18 European Championship in summer 2018. During the tournament in Slovakia he averaged 19.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.4 ball wins and 2.7 basket assists in seven matches. In January 2018, Sanon moved to the Slovenian top club KK Union Olimpija .

In the NBA draft process in June 2018, the Washington Wizards secured the services of the Ukrainian in the second selection round (44th place). The team management intended to use Sanon in the summer league of the NBA and then to let him continue to play in Europe in order to change experience there and, following the example of Tomas Satoransky, to the NBA at a later date. In 2019 he moved back to BK Dnipro.
