Mohamed Fakaba "Mo" Bamba (born May 12, 1998 in Harlem , New York ) is an American basketball player . The Orlando Magic  secured the rights to Bamba in the NBA draft process in June 2018.

career

Bamba's parents are both from Ivory Coast and met in New York . As a teenager he played at the Westtown School in West Chester (US state Pennsylvania ) and developed into one of the most promising young players of his year. In several talent rankings he was listed among the top five players in the USA of his year. For the Westtown School he achieved averages of 12.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.4 blocked throws per encounter in his last year.

Bamba moved to the University of Texas at Austin for the 2017/18 season and was in the "top five" in 29 of 30 missions. Statistically, he reached 12.9 points as well as 10.5 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game. The latter two numbers meant team highs among the Texans.

Following his first year in the NCAA , Bamba announced his decision in March 2018 to leave the university and play as a professional in the future. He volunteered for the draft process of the NBA in June 2018 and became the sixth of the Orlando Magic  selected. In February 2019, he was diagnosed with a fatigue fracture in his left shin, which put him out of action for the remaining games of the 2018/19 season. Thus, in his first year as a professional, the inside player had a total of 47 inserts and averages of 6.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per encounter.
