Al-Farouq Aminu Ajiede (* 21st September 1990 in Stone Mountain , Georgia ) is a Nigerian - American basketball player for the since 2019 Orlando Magic in National Basketball Association play (NBA).

college

Aminu played for the Wake Forest University college team for a year . He scored 13.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in his freshman season . For his services he was appointed to the ACC All-Freshman Team at his conference.

NBA

In the 2010 NBA Draft , Aminu was selected 8th by the Los Angeles Clippers . In his debut season in the NBA, Aminu averaged 5.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game over 18 minutes of play.

On December 14, 2011 Aminu was transferred to the New Orleans Hornets together with his teammates Eric Gordon , Chris Kaman and a future draft pick in exchange for Chris Paul .

In July 2014, Aminu signed a two-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks , where he only played for one season before moving to the Portland Trail Blazers exactly a year later . Aminu signed a 4-year $ 30 million deal with the Oregon team on July 9, 2015.

After his contract in Portland Aminu moved within the league and signed a contract with the Orlando Magic .

National team

Aminu has been active for the Nigerian national basketball team since 2012 . He took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and the FIBA AfroBasket 2013 in Abidjan . In 2015 he won the African Championship with Nigeria, and was selected for his performance in the All-Tournament Team .
