Trexlertown

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Trexlertown is a parish in Upper Macungie Township in Lehigh County , Pennsylvania .

The name Trexlertown goes back to the German immigrant Peter Trexler from Dettingen (then Landgraviate Hessen-Darmstadt ). He and his family were the first white settlers in this area, which was then still inhabited by the Lenni Lenape Indian tribe . The name Macungie (= feeding place for bears) comes from them . Trexler's son Jeremiah opened an inn there in 1732, and two years later the first road to Philadelphia was built. The later town, which today has around 750 inhabitants, was built around this restaurant.

Internationally known Trexlertown (called T-Town ) as the site of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center , a sports center with velodrome , on the international and national track cycling held.
