Grayson James Allen (born October 8, 1995 in Jacksonville ) is an American basketball player .

career

Allen played as a student at the Providence School of Jacksonville in his home state of Florida . In his senior season 2013/14 he got averages of 22.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.7 ball wins. He accepted a scholarship offer from Duke University and played there for four years (2014 to 2018) under coaching awesome Mike Krzyzewski for the "Blue Devils".

In 142 games for Duke Allen achieved averages of 14.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3 assists. When he left the college team in spring 2018, he was twelfth in Duke's all-time basketball list with points scored in 1996. In 2015 he won the NCAA championship with Duke . During his time at Duke University, Allen made several negative headlines when he tripped opponents, causing them to fall. After such an incident in December 2016, Allen was suspended for a game by coach Krzyzewski, and he was also deprived of the captaincy, which he got back at the beginning of the 2017/18 season.

In the NBA draft process in June 2018, the Utah Jazz secured the rights to Allen in the first selection round in 21st place. Allen spent his first year between jazz and the Farm League G-League with the Salt Lake City Stars . Allen saw more playing time towards the end of the season. On the last match day of the 2018/19 season, Allen scored his career record of 40 points in the 143: 137 defeat of Jazz. Allen was credited with having made an increase in the course of the 2018/19 game year, especially in defense. In attack, he scored an average of 5.6 points per encounter in 38 NBA missions. In July 2019, he ended up with the Memphis Grizzlies as part of an exchange deal .
