Gotthard Paulus

Gotthard Paulus (born November 19, 1912 in Glauchau , † February 6, 1977 in Munich ) was a German legal scholar and university professor.

Paulus attended the Realgymnasium in Glauchau until 1932. He then studied political science and law in Innsbruck from 1932 to 1933, in Hamburg in 1933 and in Leipzig from 1933 to 1935 . After the first state examination, he completed his legal clerkship in Dresden and was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1940 . In 1945 he received his doctorate in Freiburg to Dr. iur. and was academic assistant for the history of private law, civil procedural law, civil law until 1950, when he completed his habilitation there. He stayed in Freiburg im Breisgau as a lecturer in civil law, civil procedural law 1950–1951 and lecturer in civil procedural law, civil law, and private law history until he became full professor of general law at the University of Labor, Politics and Economics in Wilhelmshaven from 1951–1957 . There he became rector in 1953/54. 1957-1965 he worked as a full professor for civil law, civil procedural law, history of private law at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , in 1965 he moved as a full professor for commercial law, insurance law and commercial law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich .
