career

Kabengele's parents immigrated from the Congo to Canada, where he was born. His mother is the sister of former professional basketball player Dikembe Mutombo . Kabengele grew up in Burlington (province of Ontario ) and came as a child to basketball as a coach saw his athleticism and then spoke to his mother. He played in Burlington at Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School. In 2015 he went to the United States and joined the team at the Bosco Institute near Chicago .

In 2016 he began studying (major: international relations ) at Florida State University . In the 2016/17 season he did not take part in the game, but only in the practice operations of the university's basketball team, after which Kabengele was on the field in 71 matches by the end of the 2018/19 season and scored an average of 10.3 points, 5 , 3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. He was named best substitute ("sixth man") of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in 2018/19 .

At the beginning of April 2019, he announced the end of his university career in order to switch to the professional camp and enroll in  the NBA draft process . The Brooklyn Nets  selected him in the first round in 27th place and transferred him directly to the Los Angeles Clippers .
