Patrick Beverley (born July 12, 1988 in Chicago , Illinois ) is a professional American basketball player . He is currently active for the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA .
Career
Beverley played from 2006 for two years for the Razorbacks called university team of the University of Arkansas . Then he left university to play in Europe. The first club for Beverley was from the 2008/09 season the club Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the Ukrainian basketball league . This season he came to a points average of 16.7 per game.
Although selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2nd round of the 2009 NBA Draft , Beverley stayed in Europe and signed a contract with Olympiacos . With Piraeus he reached the Final Four in the ULEB Euroleague 2009/10 , alongside Josh Childress and Linas Kleiza , where the team lost to FC Barcelona in the final . In the same year Piraeus won the Greek Cup and finished 2nd in the Greek championship.
Beverley moved to the Russian club Spartak Saint Petersburg after winning the cup in Greece in January 2011 . After moving to Spartak Saint Petersburg, he won the Russian Cup with his new team and reached the Final Four in the FIBA EuroChallenge . In the 2011/12 season, Beverley was named MVP of the regular season of the Eurocup . He was also MVP of the month October 2011 in the VTB United League . In December 2012 he left the Russian team after almost two years.
On January 7, 2013, Beverley signed a contract with the Houston Rockets in the NBA . Initially briefly active for their farm team , the Rio Grande Valley Vipers , he made his NBA debut for the Rockets on January 15th. With the Rockets, Beverley developed into an important part of the rotation and a starter in the position of point guard in the years to come. He was especially feared for his good defense work and was appointed to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2014 and to the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2017 .
In the summer of 2017, Beverley was transferred to the Los Angeles Clippers as part of a trade with three other players , who in return sent all star Chris Paul to the Rockets.
International
At the FIBA U19 World Cup 2007 in Novi Sad , Beverley took 2nd place with the USA team.
