Reginald Shon "Reggie" Jackson (born April 16, 1990 in Pordenone , Italy ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA .
career
Youth and college
Jackson was born in 1990 in Pordenone, Italy, as his father was stationed as a soldier in nearby Aviano at the time . He grew up there until he was five years old, before moving with his parents to England and then to the United States.
Between 2008 and 2011, visited Jackson, after being in Colorado Springs , the high school had been completed, the Boston College . At the Boston Eagles he initially acted as a substitute for Tyrese Rice and reached the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship tournament with the team .
After Rice's departure in 2009, Jackson became the team's lead player and was elected to the All- ACC First Team in 2011 . In the 2011 NBA draft , the Oklahoma City Thunder selected him in 24th place.
NBA career
In the NBA, Jackson initially struggled. For the team already prominently occupied in the position of the builder with Russell Westbrook , he was little used and delivered weak throwing rates. In March and December 2012, he completed a total of four games for the Tulsa 66ers in the NBA Development League .
However, his level of performance increased over the course of the 2012/13 season , and when Westbrook was injured during the play-offs , Jackson took over his role as a regular in the point guard position. Although he could not replace Westbrook equally and Oklahoma City was eliminated in the semifinals of the Western Conference against the Memphis Grizzlies , Jackson showed the potential to establish himself as the next sixth man of the team, succeeding James Harden and Kevin Martin .
In February 2015, Jackson moved to the Detroit Pistons. On February 18, 2020, he was released from the Pistons through a “buy-out”. This cleared the way for Jackson to join the title contender Los Angeles Clippers .
