NewsOK.com is Oklahoma's largest news website . It belongs to the Oklahoma Publishing Company (OPUBCO), which is headquartered in Oklahoma City . OPUBCO also publishes The Oklahoman , Oklahoma 's largest daily newspaper.

history

NewsOK.com launched in 2001 as part of a collaboration between the local CBS - offshoot NEWS 9 with the Oklahoman , the largest daily newspaper in the state. Both merged their websites to create NewsOK.com. It was headed by Kelly Dyer Fry, who quickly made the portal a success. It was around eleven million page impressions per month.

In March 2007, Griffin Communications, the company to which NEWS 9 belongs, sold its shares to the Oklahoma Publishing Company. As a result, the television broadcaster's own website appeared in early 2008, whereupon the cooperation between the former partners was terminated.

While Oklahoman.com , the newspaper's website since 1996, is now only available to subscribers, the articles on NewsOK.com are freely available.

reception

The site received a Webby Award in 2009 . Four years later, she received an Emmy Award for Best Commercial. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences listed it among the twelve leading newspaper websites worldwide in 2009.

In 2013 the site had around 2.6 million unique visits , 17.9 million page views and 0.7 million video views per month .
