Childhood and college

Kevin was interested in basketball from an early age and played basketball for Zanesville High School. After graduating from high school , he went to Western Carolina University , where he played three seasons . He averaged 23.3 points per game and was the first Western Carolina College athlete to ever be entered for a professional draft . With 1,838 points he is the fourth most successful college player in history and the best of his college. Martin received several awards. He was elected to the All-District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) , was in the first-team All-Southern Conference three times in a row and won the Southern Conference scoring title as the best points collector of the season. NBA career

Sacramento Kings (2004-2010)

In 2004, Martin was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the NBA draft. In his first season he was able to book 7.9 points per game. He was able to improve this value in the following three years to 20.2 points per game, making him one of the most important players in the Kings. On August 28, 2007, he extended his contract by five years for a total of $ 55 million. In the 2007-2008 season he also collected 4.3 rebounds per game and also distributed 2.2 assists per encounter. The litter rate was also satisfactory (47.3% FG, 38.1% 3pt and 84.4% FT). He improved his point average by 9.4 points and hit 39 free throws in a row (November 3 to 15).

Martin in the jersey of the Kings

After Ron Artest was transferred from the Kings in 2008, Martin became the undisputed team leader of the Kings. On April 1, 2009, he put on a career high of 50 points in a game against the Golden State Warriors . In the 2007-08 and 2008-09 season, Martin was one of the best scorers in the league and scored 23.7 and 24.9 points on average. However, the Kings were an unsuccessful team at the time and did not reach the playoffs. After five and a half years, Martin was released for transfer by the Kings.

Houston Rockets (2010-2012)

On February 18, 2010, Martin was handed over to the Houston Rockets by the Kings . During his time in Houston, Martin and the Rockets did not make the playoffs once, despite Martin leading the team in points per game each season. In 2011, Martin was about to move to the New Orleans Hornets , but the transfer failed due to the NBA's veto .

Oklahoma City Thunder (2012-2013)

On October 28, 2012, Martin and other players were transferred to the Oklahoma City Thunder . In return, James Harden moved to the Rockets. Martin came off the bench in all 77 games and scored an average of 14 points. He also reached the playoffs for the second time in his career with the Thunder. In the sixth game of the Western Conference Quarterfinals, Martin scored 25 points in a 103 to 94 win against his old team.

Minnesota Timberwolves (2013-2016)

In the summer of 2013, Martin signed a $ 28 million four-year contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves . Martin was allowed to start again with the Wolves and scored an average of 19.1 points in 68 games. With the Wolves, however, he missed the playoffs. Due to a fracture in his right wrist, he largely missed the following season and only completed 36 season games in which he scored 20 points on average. In the course of rebuilding the Wolves, Martin's playing time was cut in the 2015/16 season. After a sale of Martin did not materialize during the season, he agreed with the Timberwolves on a buyout and was fired by them.

San Antonio Spurs (2016)

A few days later, Martin switched to the title contender San Antonio Spurs . Martin completed the remaining 16 games of the season for the Spurs, in which he scored 6.2 points per game. In the playoffs, Martin made 5 appearances. After not finding a new team for the new season, Martin announced his retirement in November 2016.
