University of Wyoming
The University of Wyoming (also called UW ) is a state university founded in 1886 in Laramie in the southwest of the US state Wyoming . It is the only higher education institution in Wyoming that awards doctoral and master's degrees. In 2005, 13,162 students were enrolled here. The university is known nationwide for its research in the fields of geology, agriculture, the environment and natural resources as well as water management. The UW is located at an altitude of 2,194 m, making it the highest university in the USA. The current President of UW is Laurie Nichols.

The university's sports team are the cowboys or cowgirls . The UW is a member of the Mountain West Conference .
