Rowan Alexander "RJ" Barrett Jr. (born June 16, 2000 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian basketball player . The winger is part of the New York Knicks squad .

Player career

As a student played Barrett during the seventh and eighth grade basketball at francophone École secondaire Jeunes sans frontières in Brampton , In the game 2014/15 he belonged to the team of St. Marcellinus Secondary School in Mississauga and changed in the fall of 2015 in the United States to the Montverde Academy (State of Florida ). In November 2017, he announced his decision to move to Duke University  ( North Carolina ) for the 2018/19 game year . Personal

Barrett's father Rowan played basketball at St. John's University in New York State from 1992 to 1996 and then as a professional in Israel , Argentina , Spain , France , Venezuela and Greece . In 2000 he took part with the Canadian national team in the Summer Olympics and in 1998 and 2002 in world championships. After his playing career, he became a member of the executive staff of the Canadian national basketball team and deputy to manager Steve Nash , RJ Barrett's godfather. His mother Kesha (maiden name: Duhaney) ran athletics (sprint) at St. John's University .

Barrett grew up partly in France, and in 2008 the family moved to Mississauga in the Canadian province of Ontario .
