Taj Jami Gibson (born June 24, 1985 in Brooklyn , New York ) is an American basketball player who plays for the New York Knicks in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

NBA career

Gibson was selected 26th by the Chicago Bulls in the 2009 NBA Draft . After his first season he was elected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team . He started in 70 of 82 games and averaged 9.0 points and 7.5 rebounds . With the signing of Carlos Boozer, Gibson moved back on the bench, but remained an important pillar of the team over the years. His best season was the 2013/14 season , where he put on an average of 13.0 points and 6.8 rebounds and was second behind Jamal Crawford in the election for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year (best substitute).

After more than seven years with the Bulls, Gibson was transferred to the Oklahoma City Thunder in February 2017, along with Doug McDermott , in exchange for Joffrey Lauvergne , Cameron Payne and Anthony Morrow .
