Tsangpa Gyare Yeshe Dorje ( Tib .: gtsang pa rgya ras ye shes rdo rje ; born 1161 ; died 1211 ) was a Tibetan trülku of the Drugpa Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism . He was the 1st Gyelwang Drugpa ( rgyal dbang 'brug pa ), d. H. the highest clergyman of the Drugpa Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism .

He was a student of Lingrepa (Lingchen Repa; Tib. GLing Ras Padma rDo rje ; 1128–1188, from the Phagdru Kagyu School, a student of Phagmo Drupa ), the founder of the Middle Drugpa Tradition ( bar 'brug ).

From a young age he mastered the tantric practices of Mahamudra and the Six Yogas of Naropa . As Tertön he discovered previously hidden texts from Rechungpa (1084–1161), a student of Milarepa .

He is the founder of the Ralung monastery ( ra lung dgon ), later the drug monastery ( 'brug dgon pa ).
