Julius Deion Randle (born November 29, 1994 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the New York Knicks in the NBA .

High school and college

Randle played for the University of Kentucky for a year . With the Wildcats he reached the final of the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship in 2014 , but there the team was defeated by the University of Connecticut . Randle ended the year with 15.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.

NBA career

Randle was selected seventh in the 2014 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers . But even in his first NBA outing against the Houston Rockets on October 28, 2014, Randle broke his right shin when he was unlucky enough to hit a block . He was out for the rest of the season. In his second year Randle was able to complete 75 games and achieved a double-double on average with 11.7 points and 10.2 rebounds .

After his contract with the Lakers expired, Randle became a free agent in the summer of 2018 . On July 3, 2018, Randle signed a two-year contract for $ 18 million with the New Orleans Pelicans, including a player option for the second year. However, Randle turned down that option and instead signed a three-year $ 63 million deal with the New York Knicks on July 1, 2019 .
