Career
Italy
Gallinari made his debut at age 18 in the senior team . Due to a knee injury, however, he was unable to take part in the 2007 European Championship . Although his club Armani Jeans Milan had only won three preliminary round games and was thus eliminated early, he was awarded the Rising Star Trophy of the 2007/08 Euroleague season . Just under a week later Gallinari became the most valuable player of the Main Round in Serie A selected.
NBA
In the 2008 NBA draft , he was selected in 6th place by the New York Knicks . Due to back problems, he was initially only used in the first two games of his first NBA season and only completed a competitive game on January 17, 2009 after a break of several months. After playing only 28 games, Gallinari decided to have an operation during the regular season . In the following season, however, he established himself as part of the starting lineup.
On February 22, 2011, Gallinari was named along with Raymond Felton , Wilson Chandler , Timofey Mozgov , a first-round draft pick and two second-round picks and $ 3 million in exchange for Carmelo Anthony , Chauncey Billups , Anthony Carter , Shelden Williams and Renaldo Balkman handed over to the Denver Nuggets . After participating in the 2011 European Championship , Gallinari moved to Milan in the wake of the lockout in September 2011 and returned to the NBA with the Nuggets in December of the same year.
At the end of a regular season 2012/13 that had been successful for him personally and for the Nuggets , he tore a cruciate ligament , which meant the end of the NBA season for him. Gallinari also did not take part in the 2013 European Championship . He sat out the entire 2013/14 season due to the injury.
On October 29, 2014, he made his comeback defeating the Detroit Pistons . On April 10, 2015, Gallinari achieved a career record of 47 points in the 144: 143 defeat against the Dallas Mavericks .
The next season went very well for him. He put on 19.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists on average in 53 games of the season. The Denver Nuggets finished the season on a 33-49 record.
As part of a "Sign & Trade" deal between the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks , Gallinari signed a $ 65 million three-year contract with the Denver Nuggets in the summer of 2017, which he passed on to the Clippers. In return, the nuggets received a "second round pick" from Atlanta. Shortly afterwards, he broke a metacarpal bone during a preparation game for the upcoming European Championship against the Netherlands when he hit opponent Jito Kok in the face.
In the summer of 2019, the Clippers sent Gallinari to the Oklahoma City Thunder as part of a trade . In return, Paul George moved to Los Angeles , among others .
