Nerlens Noel (born April 10, 1994 in Everett , Massachusetts ) is an American basketball player of Haitian origin.

college

Noel played for the University of Kentucky for a year . He was considered the country's greatest talent and a sure number one pick in the upcoming NBA draft . On February 12, 2013, Noel tore a cruciate ligament that left him out for the rest of the season. He finished his freshman year with 10.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 4.4 blocks per game. Despite his serious injury, he signed up for the draft.

NBA

Before the 2013 NBA draft , Noel was traded as the first pick. However, he was only selected in 6th place by the New Orleans Pelicans . This sent him shortly afterwards along with a future pick to the Philadelphia 76ers , where he did not spend a minute on the court due to the torn cruciate ligament in his rookie season ( NBA 2013/14 ). In return, Jrue Holiday moved to New Orleans.

In his first NBA season ( NBA 2014/15 ) Noel played in 75 games. He had an average of 9.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.9 blocks in 30.8 minutes of play. He also scored 18 double doubles . He was the best rookie in rebounds, steals, and blocks; in the last two categories the center was among the top 10 in the league. Noel was only the second NBA rookie after David Robinson to reach more than 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks each. For the 2016/17 season, Noel missed the first games due to a knee injury. After his return he found himself on the bench behind Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor , whereupon he expressed his dissatisfaction.

On February 23, 2017, Nerlens Noel was traded to the Dallas Mavericks , while the Philadelphia 76ers got Andrew Bogut , Justin Anderson and a protected first-round pick.
