After the 2009-10 season , he left Ohio State University and was selected number two by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2010 NBA Draft . There he does not play with the number 21 as in college , but with the 12th 2010 he took part in the NBA Summer League . In his freshman year, Turner scored 7.2 points and 3.9 rebounds. In 2012 he was invited to the Rising Star Game . His second year was similar to the first, with 9.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists. After the nominal shooting guard Andre Iguodala left the 76ers in the summer of 2012, playing time became free for Turner. He started in all 82 of 82 games and achieved career highs with 13.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
On February 20, 2014, Turner was transferred to the Indiana Pacers along with Lavoy Allen for Danny Granger . After a mixed season in Indiana, his contract was not renewed. He then joined the Boston Celtics . In his first season with the Celtics ( 2014/15 ) Turner started in 57 of the 82 games and averaged 9.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists. He recorded 3 triple doubles , the third best result in the league. After another good season with the Celtics, Turner signed a $ 75 million four-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers that summer .
