Malik JonMikal Beasley (born November 26, 1996 in Atlanta , Georgia ) is an American basketball player . He is currently under contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA .
college
Malik Beasley played a year in the NCAA for Florida State University on the Florida State Seminoles basketball team . In his year at college , Beasley was able to put on an average of 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists .
NBA
Beasley was selected 19th place by the Denver Nuggets in the 2016 NBA Draft . For the Nuggets, he signed a four-year contract 7.8 million US dollars . In his rookie season he was rarely used in the Nuggets and was temporarily sent to the NBA G-League team Sioux Falls Skyforce . At Skyforce, Beasley was able to record an average of 18.9 points and 7.6 rebounds in 16 games. Beasley then spent his second professional season exclusively with the Nuggets and was used in 62 games. However, as in the previous year, it was unable to put up an average of 4 points and statistically even worsened marginally. He made his breakthrough in his third season ( 2018/19 ) in the NBA. Beasley was used in 81 of 82 games and achieved an average of 11.3 points. There were also 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Because of this significant increase, Beasley has meanwhile also been viewed as a candidate for the NBA Most Improved Player Award . The highlight of the season was his 35-point game, his career best to date, on February 1, 2019 in the win against the Houston Rockets . Beasley reached the NBA play-offs with the Nuggets in 2019. During the 2019-20 NBA season , Beasley was traded from the Nuggets to the Minnesota Timberwolves .
