In June 2017 Russell was transferred to the Brooklyn Nets along with Timofey Mozgov for Brook Lopez . Russell completed only 48 season games due to a left knee injury. On March 23, 2018 against the Toronto Raptors , he became the first Nets player since Terrence Williams in 2010 to score a triple-double with 18 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds. It was also the first triple double of his career. On January 18, 2019, Russell set a career record with 40 points against Orlando Magic . Russell was also nominated to replace the injured Victor Oladipo for the 2019 NBA All-Star Game . Russell was then transferred to the Golden State Warriors in a "sign-and-trade" deal for Durant . Due to the failures of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson , Russell got a place on the starting grid of the runner-up. On November 8, 2019, he set a career record of 52 points when the Warriors were defeated by the Minnesota Timberwolves .
