Shaun Patrick Livingston (born September 11, 1985 in Peoria , Illinois ) is a former American basketball player who played 15 years in the NBA , most recently with the Golden State Warriors, with whom he also won the NBA championship three times.

NBA career

Although Livingston had already accepted Duke University , he decided to switch to the NBA immediately after high school. He was selected fourth in the NBA Draft as a great talent by the Los Angeles Clippers , where he completed his first three professional years.

After a serious knee injury that cost him the 2007/08 season , and a generally high susceptibility to injury, the Clippers did not offer him a maximum contract and so Livingston moved to the Miami Heat , for which he only played four games before joining the Memphis Grizzlies was transferred and discharged the same day.

On March 31, 2009, he signed a multi-year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder , which was dissolved on December 22 of the same year. On February 26, 2010, Livingston signed the first of two 10-day contracts with the Washington Wizards , for which he then played for the rest of the season.

On July 20, 2010, he signed a 2-year deal for a total of $ 7 million with the Charlotte Bobcats . In his first year with the Bobcats, he averaged 17.3 minutes in 73 games. As part of the 2011 NBA draft , he moved to a three-team swap deal for the Milwaukee Bucks .

After a season he was transferred from the Bucks to the Houston Rockets . Livingston only ran for the Rockets in preparation for the season, after which his contract was terminated. In mid-November 2012, the Washington Wizards signed him again. He was released there in December 2012. For the rest of the season he was under contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers .

For the 2013/2014 season, he moved to the Brooklyn Nets to relieve Star Point Guard Deron Williams . Livingston started there in 54 of 76 games and scored 8.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

After the good season with the Nets, Livingston received offers from across the league in the summer of 2014. He finally signed a three-year contract with the Golden State Warriors to relieve the starting point guard Stephen Curry from the bank. That season he also won the NBA championship against the injury-ridden Cleveland Cavaliers around LeBron James . After the Cavaliers returned the favor in the following season with the title, Livingston again made an important contribution from the bank in winning the 2017 title against those Cavaliers. After the season, he extended his contract to 2020, which should bring him $ 24 million. In 2018 he won his third NBA championship with the Warriors. On July 10, 2019, the Warriors released him prematurely from his contract. Livingston announced his retirement a few weeks later.

Livingston came to 833 NBA games in his 15-year NBA career, scoring 6.3 points and 3.0 assists per game.
