Corey Jae Crowder (born July 6, 1990 in Villa Rica , Georgia ) is an American basketball player who has been active for the Miami Heat in the North American professional league NBA since 2020 .

Before joining Marquette University in 2010, Crowder played at the small South Georgia Tech College and Howard County Junior College . During his college days at Marquette, he averaged 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his freshman year and 17.5 points and 8.4 rebounds averaged in his sophomore year.

In the 2012 NBA draft he was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers at the beginning of the second round and transferred to the Dallas Mavericks in a trade that same evening . On July 20, 2012, he signed his rookie contract in Dallas. At times Crowder was used as a starter, where he was able to convince in phases. He also managed a 4-point game in his first year as a professional.

In December 2014, Crowder joined the Boston Celtics with Brandan Wright and Jameer Nelson in exchange for Rajon Rondo and Dwight Powell . At the Celtics he got a bigger role and he improved his individual stats to 9.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. In the summer of 2015, Crowder signed a $ 35 million, five-year deal with the Celtics. The next two seasons were Crowder's best. In the two years as a starter he put on 14 points and 6 rebounds on average. When the Celtics signed Gordon Hayward from the Utah Jazz in the summer of 2017 , Crowder became available. A Crowder-to-Jazz swap was negotiated, but it ended up with the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of the Kyrie Irving transfer. Crowder could not build on his performances from Boston times with the Cavs and was transferred six months later to the Utah Jazz, including for Rodney Hood . At Jazz, Crowder came off the bench as a noble reservist and achieved an average of 12 points and an average of 4.5 rebounds in 1½ years. However, he also had problems with throwing selection in the Jazz, so that during his time in the Jazz he had a hit rate of less than 40%.

In the summer of 2019 was Crowder in the course of transfer to Mike Conley, Jr. to the Memphis Grizzlies transferred. A few months later, Crowder was passed on to the Miami Heat in exchange for Justise Winslow .

His father, Corey Crowder, played for the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs in the NBA in the 1990s . However, he could not prevail in the NBA and spent most of his career in Europe.
