Udonis Johneal Haslem (born June 9, 1980 in Miami , Florida ) is an American basketball player who has been active for the Miami Heat in the NBA since 2003 . Haslem won three NBA championships with the Heat in 2006 , 2012 and 2013 .

Career

Start time

Haslem attended Miami Senior High School in his hometown. He established himself as a good point collector and strong rebounder . In the college league NCAA he was also able to convince in the team of the University of Florida . He then signed up for the 2002 NBA Draft . Since no NBA team secured the rights to him, his first professional station was Chalon-sur-Saône in France.

NBA

After this detour, he managed to get into the Miami Heat squad via the NBA Summer League . He was signed up as a reserve player for the minimum salary. But he immediately got playing time and kept Lamar Odom and the young guard Dwyane Wade free. Haslem played 75 games in his debut season and averaged 7 points and 6 rebounds per game, for which he was appointed to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team .

In its second season, 2004/2005 , the Heat team was redesigned. Brian Grant and Forward Lamar Odom have been swapped for superstar Shaquille O'Neal . Haslem continued to flourish in his role as a supplement to O'Neal. He increased his statistics to 11 points and 9 rebounds per game and was elected to the sophomore team of the All-Star-Games . In the NBA Conference Finals, the Miami Heat were eliminated against the Detroit Pistons .

In the 2005/2006 season there was a new edition of the conference finals. After further player transfers brought the forwards Antoine Walker and James Posey , as well as the point guard Jason Williams to Miami, the Heat defeated the Pistons and made it to the NBA final. There they met the Dallas Mavericks around All-Star Dirk Nowitzki . Haslem had the task of defending Nowitzki. Haslem solved his task satisfactorily and played a major role in the fact that the Heat converted a deficit of 0-2 games into a 4-2 win.

The next two years were satisfactory for Haslem, but unsuccessful for the team. He remained a regular player, but could not prevent the Heat from being eliminated early in the play-offs in 2007 and completely missing the knockout round in 2008 after a wave of injuries.

After the extensive reorganization of the Heat as a result of the signings of the superstars LeBron James and Chris Bosh in the summer of 2010, Haslem remained in the team's squad. He reached the 2011 NBA final with the Heat, but in which the Heat were subject to the Dallas Mavericks in the remake of the 2006 final.

The following year Haslem was able to win the second title of his career with the Miami Heat. The Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-1 in the NBA Finals. In the 2012-2013 season , Haslem and the Heat succeeded in defending their title; they won the NBA Finals 4-3 against the San Antonio Spurs . In addition, Haslem has been the all-time leader in rebounding the franchise since the 2012/2013 season.

Private life

Haslem and his girlfriend have two sons, Kedonis and Josiah. During his time at the University of Florida , he graduated as a youth worker ("Leisure service management"). Outside of the basketball field, Haslem does charitable work for the American Red Cross and in the fight against AIDS . Haslem has two brothers and three sisters.
