NBA Coach of the Year Award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The NBA Coach of the Year Award ( Red Auerbach Trophy) has been given to the best coach of the North American basketball league NBA since the 1962/63 season . The winner will be determined by a vote at the end of regular time of each NBA season. A selection of US and Canadian sports journalists are eligible to vote . Each person entitled to vote gives one vote for the first, second and third coach of their choice. The first vote is assessed with five points, the second vote with three points and the third vote with one point. The trainer with the highest absolute number of points receives the award as trainer of the year. The current record winners are Don Nelson , Pat Riley and Gregg Popovich , each with three awards (as of the end of the 2017/18 season).
