Cotton Fitzsimmons
Lowell "Cotton" Fitzsimmons (born October 7, 1931 in Hannibal , Missouri , † July 24, 2004 in Phoenix , Arizona ) was an American basketball coach .
He started out in 1962 as a coach at Kansas State University . Between 1970 and 1996 he coached the teams of the Phoenix Suns , Atlanta Hawks , Kansas City Kings and San Antonio Spurs in the US professional league NBA . His overall record as an NBA coach is 832-775. After his coaching career, he worked in the management of the Suns and then as a television commentator.
Fitzsimmons died of lung cancer at the age of 72 .
