The Valparaiso University (Valpo) is a private university in the US state of Indiana . It was founded in 1859; since 1925 it has been a Lutheran university. Around 4,000 students were enrolled in the 2010 fall semester. Today there are seven faculties : the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business Administration, the College of Engineering, the College of Nursing, Christ College, the School of Law, and Graduate Studies.

The university is an hour's drive from Chicago in the Chicago metropolitan area . The campus is also adjacent to US Highway 30, which runs through the southern part of the city of Valparaiso.
Old Campus
The Old Campus is part of the old town of Valparaiso. At the Old Campus you will find the School of Law , the Fraternities , the Martin Luther King Cultural Center and the Kade-Duesenberg German House.
New campus
In the early 1950s the university began to cultivate land east of the Old Campus. Today you can find most of the university's most important buildings on the New Campus. In the middle is the Chapel of the Resurrection ( Church of the Resurrection ). It was built in 1959 and at 30 meters is the tallest building in the city. Also nearby are the Neils Science Center, the Christopher Center Library (the university library), the Valparaiso University Center for the Arts (VUCA), the Brewers Art Museum, and the Harre Union. In this part of the university there are also nine student residences and four other buildings with classrooms and lecture halls.
Sports
The university's sports teams are named Valparaiso Crusaders , and their colors are brown and gold. Valparaiso is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference .
