Jörg Lütcke (born December 12, 1975 in Stuttgart ) is a former German national basketball player . Lütcke's greatest sporting success was winning the bronze medal at the 2002 World Basketball Championship in the USA . His brother Niklas Lütcke , who was one year older, was also a basketball player in the Bundesliga and won the German Cup with the Skyliners Frankfurt in 2000 .

career

Lütcke began his career in the youth department of the then ALBA Berlin cooperation partner TuS Lichterfelde , with whom he became German champion of the C-Youth (1989), B-Youth (1991) and A-Youth (1993 and 1994). The highlight of his junior career was his participation in the first Nike Hoop Summit in 1995 in the dress of the junior world team trained by Sandro Gamba . He then moved to the first division team at ALBA Berlin and made his debut in the same year in the German national team, with which he took part in the European Championships in 1997 and 1999 and in the 2002 World Cup. Lütcke's career was repeatedly interrupted by serious injuries. Torn cruciate ligaments in 1999 and 2002 forced him to take long breaks. After suffering another cruciate ligament tear in November 2004, he had to announce the end of his professional career in 2005. He was unable to implement his plan to still play abroad due to injury. Despite all this, he was able to win numerous titles, for example Lütcke is a seven-time German men's champion and has five cup titles.

After retiring as a professional basketball player, Lütcke moved back to his home town of Berlin-Lichterfelde , studied medicine and then worked as a doctor.
