Veľké Ripňany (German Großrippen , Hungarian Nagyrépény - until 1907 Nagyrippény ) is a municipality in central Slovakia .
The place was first mentioned in writing as Ripin in 1156 .
The municipality also includes the places Malá Vieska (German Klein-Vjeszka ; incorporated in 1882, is counted as part of the actual town) and Behynce (incorporated in 1976; German Behintz ).
