Urmince (German Uerminz , Hungarian Nyitraörmény - until 1907 Ürminc ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,409 (December 31, 2019) and belongs to Okres Topoľčany , a circle of Nitriansky kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the middle of the hilly Nitrianska pahorkatina , part of the Slovakian Danube lowlands, in a short depression on the lower reaches of the Bojnianka ( Nitra river system ). The town center is at an altitude of 180 m nm and is eight kilometers from Topoľčany .
Neighboring municipalities are Nemčice in the northeast, Chrabrany in the east, Ludanice and Horné Obdokovce in the south, Horné Štitáre in the west and Veľké Dvorany in the northwest.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1156. In 1828 there were 67 houses and 1,428 inhabitants who lived from agriculture and viticulture.
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
population
According to the 2011 census, Urmince had 1,408 inhabitants, 1,392 of whom were Slovaks, two Czechs and one each Pole and Ukrainian; three residents belonged to a different ethnic group. Nine residents gave no information in this regard. 1317 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, eleven residents the Evangelical Church AB, four residents the Greek Catholic Church and one resident of the Orthodox Church. 48 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 27 inhabitants was not determined.
