Tovarníky (Hungarian Tavarnok ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia , with a population of 1,506 (December 31, 2019) and belongs to Okres Topoľčany , a circle of Nitriansky kraj .

Country chateau in Tovarníky

The municipality is located in the northern Danube hill country (part of the Slovak Danube lowlands ) on the Chotina brook , a tributary of Nitra . The center of the village is at an altitude of 180  m nm and is three kilometers northwest of Topoľčany .

history

Tovarníky was first mentioned in writing in 1235. After the fall of Topoltschan Castle in Inowetz , the country castle was the seat of a manor that existed until 1945 when it was parceled out.

1944–1949 the neighboring community Jacovce was incorporated into Tovarníky. 1976-1992 the place was part of the city Topoľčany.
