Krnča (German Krentz , Hungarian Kerencs - until 1907 Krencs ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,335 (December 31, 2019) and belongs to Okres Topoľčany , a circle of Nitriansky kraj .
geography
The municipality is located on the northwestern edge of the Tribeč Mountains on the central reaches of the Dršna brook ( Nitra river system ). The center of the village is at an altitude of 230 m nm and is eight kilometers from Topoľčany .
Neighboring municipalities are Bošany in the north, Klátova Nová Ves in the northeast and east, Zlatno in the south and Práznovce in the west.
history
In the municipality of Krnča, settlements of the Lusatian culture , a settlement from the Hallstatt period and the Puchau culture are archaeologically proven.
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1183 as a kernel mulch . It initially belonged to the Divéky family and in 1293 became part of the Klíž Abbey . By marrying, the estate then belonged to various members of the lower nobility. During the skirmishes between local supporters of the Hussites and troops of Sigismund of Luxembourg between 1432 and 1435, the village was affected. Other owners came from the Gosztonyi and Ordódy families . In 1828 there were 73 houses and 507 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture, viticulture, as well as carters and shepherds. In the 19th century there was a distillery in the village, and a fire in 1904 caused great damage. In 1906 Count Gabriel Matuschka -Toppolczan set up a crochet workshop .
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 1339 people lived in Krnča, of which 1319 were Slovaks, four Czechs, two Magyars and two Poles and one Moravian; one resident belonged to a different ethnic group. Ten residents gave no information in this regard. 805 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 456 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, four residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses and one resident to the Orthodox Church; two residents professed a different denomination. 51 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination was not determined for 20 inhabitants.

Almost nothing is left of the former country palace, built before 1690 and demolished after 1960.
