Ardanovce (German Ardanowitz , Hungarian Árdánfalva - until 1907 Ardanóc ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 207 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) and belongs to Okres Topoľčany , a circle of Nitriansky kraj .

geography

The municipality is located in the north-western part of the hilly Nitrianska pahorkatina , part of the Slovak Danube lowlands , at the foot of the southern part of Považský Inovec . A tributary of the Radošinka River flows through the village . The center of the village is at an altitude of 251  m nm and is 14 kilometers from Piešťany and 24 kilometers from Topoľčany .

Neighboring municipalities are Radošina in the north, northeast and east, Šalgovce in the south and west, and Ratnovce and Banka in the northwest.

history

Church in place

The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1317 as Jardan and from 1332 it was owned by the Neutra diocese , administered from Radošina, later partly by the Neutra chapter. The small settlement of Dvorec was first mentioned in writing in 1404. In 1598, shortly before a devastating Ottoman invasion, the village had 24 houses. In 1787 there were 44 houses and 244 inhabitants in Ardanovce, whose main sources of income were agriculture and partly lime kilns.

Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

population

According to the 2011 census, Ardanovce had 223 residents, including 220 Slovaks and one Czech . Two residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .

206 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, four residents the Jehovah's Witnesses and one resident of the Evangelical Church AB. One resident was non-denominational and the denomination of 11 residents was not determined.
