Ratnovce (Hungarian Ratnóc ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,088 (December 31, 2019) that the Piešťany District , part of the kraj Trnavský belongs.
geography
The village is located on the left bank of the Váh, below the western slope of Považský Inovec . Part of the Sĺňava reservoir covers the municipality. The center of the village is at an altitude of 156 m nm and is four kilometers from Piešťany .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1240 as Ratun and belonged to the territory of Neutra Castle . After the Neutra Chapter swapped the place for goods in what is now Tekovské Lužany in 1520 , the village had several rulers such as Amadé, Braunschweig and Erdődy. In a register from 1571 to 1573, the village and the surrounding towns paid 150 florins to the Archdiocese of Gran. In 1828, 59 houses and 404 inhabitants are recorded.
The place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
As in the past, the community lives mainly from agriculture, until the late modern period viticulture was important, millers and stonemasons were also present.
