Veselé (Hungarian Vigvár - until 1900 Veszele ) is a municipality in the Okres Piešťany of the Trnavský kraj in Slovakia .
geography
The municipality is located in the northern Danube hill country , which is part of the Slovak Danube lowlands , between the streams Šteruský potok and Lančársky potok , which flow east of Veselé into the river Dudváh . Veselé is nine kilometers from Vrbové , 12 kilometers from Piešťany and 22 kilometers from Trnava .
history
Several finds from the Neolithic and Bronze Age have been found in today's municipal area . The place itself was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1310 or 1390 as Wygwar .
In 1944 the place was merged with the neighboring places Ťapkové and Rakovice into the new municipality Veselie, but this was dissolved again in 1946. In 1956 the place Ťapkové was incorporated again and remains a part of the municipality to this day.
