Dolný Lopašov (until 1927 Slovak "Lopašov"; Hungarian Alsólopassó - until 1907 Lopassó ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 964 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the Piešťany District , part of the kraj Trnavský belongs.
geography
The community is located on the south-eastern edge of the Little Carpathian Mountains at the transition from the Trnavská pahorkatina hill country , on both sides of the Lopašovský creek in a valley that falls further down into a hallway terrace of the Dudváh . The center of the village is at an altitude of 206 m nm and is 20 kilometers from Piešťany and 25 kilometers from Trnava .
history
According to archaeological studies, intensive settlement of the municipality goes back to the Neolithic. The emergence of today's village is dated to the late 11th or early 12th century.
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1394 as Lopasow and belonged to the estate of Guttenstein Castle . In 1437 Lopašov was exempted from paying the toll and the thirtieth, but did not exercise this privilege because of the role of the neighboring town of Chtelnica . In 1549, 33 porta and three devastated porta are recorded in the village . During the Turkish wars in the 16th and 17th centuries, the place was burned down by the Ottomans in 1599 and 1663. The main source of income was and is agriculture, in the past viticulture was also important. In 1828 there are 131 houses and 960 inhabitants.
