Borovce (German Borowitz , Hungarian Vágbori - until 1907 Bori ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,062 (December 31, 2019) that the Piešťany District , part of the kraj Trnavský belongs.
geography
The municipality is located in the northern part of the Trnavská pahorkatina hills (part of the Slovak Danube lowlands ). The center of the village is at an altitude of 161 m nm and is nine kilometers from Piešťany .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1262 as Borey . The village was a royal property before it was donated to Stibor von Stiborice (seat at Beckov Castle ) in 1388 . Since the 16th century Borovce belonged to the landed gentry. In 1828 there are 65 houses and 740 inhabitants. The main traditional source of income is agriculture.
The place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

Borovce is on the national road 504 ( Trnava - Veľké Kostoľany - Nové Mesto nad Váhom ). The Piešťany junction ( D1 motorway ) is six kilometers away, and the Piešťany train station on the Bratislava – Žilina railway is eight kilometers away.
