Ducové (until 1927 also "Ducov" in Slovak; German Dutzo , Hungarian Ducó ) is a municipality in western Slovakia . It is located in the Waag Valley at the foot of the Považský Inovec Mountains , about eight kilometers from Piešťany .
The place is best known for its archaeologically significant site and the Great Moravian Fortress on Kostolec Hill .
The place was mentioned for the first time in 1348 and was part of the Moravany nad Váhom municipality from 1976 to 1992 .
