history
The municipality Dubovany was created in 1943 after the merger of the places Dolné Dubovany and Horné Dubovany .
Originally this was a village which, according to the latest research, was mentioned for the first time in 1113 in the Zobor documents as villa Lucinci . Before that, the earliest mention was dated to 1278 as Losonc ; the village was the seat of a servant of Neutra Castle . Sometime between 1378 and 1452 the village was divided: according to a tax register from 1452 there were 10 settlements in Dolné Dubovany and 25 in Horné Dubovany. Both later came to the territory of the Čachtice Castle and to the Ocskay family . In addition to agriculture, according to documents, there were two millers in the 17th century.
The first school was built in 1850. In 1909 both places burned down completely.
Until 1918, both places in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
